Pic of the Week: New Tourism Tidal Bore Rafting Video

The number of tidal bore rafting videos on YouTube is increasing almost daily. Today the Canadian Tourism Commission released several in a series of well-produced, short videos on Nova Scotia. Tidal Bore Rafting Park and owner, Jack Robinson are featured in one of those productions. There are some great shots of river but the action ‘rafting’ images are really not in the same league as some of the footage from Nova Scotia rafting enthusiast, Daniel Marshall. The video is nevertheless very professionally done. We would thank the commission for the video and hope all of our fans and customers enjoy this ride on the river.

Pic of the Week: June 19th Ride on the River

Welcome to the Pic of the Week. This is the latest tidal bore rafting video from Nova Scotian, Daniel Marshall, a hardcore Shubenacadie River rafter. Remember Daniel? Last year two of his videos were chosen among the Top Five Tidal Bore Rafting Videos in Nova Scotia. This one is bound to make the shortlist for 2010. The new video (of his June 19th, 2010 ride on the river) contains some great landscape and mud sliding shots; and like all of his productions it is entertaining and well edited. Thank you once again Daniel for a job well done.

2006 was a great year at Tidal Bore Rafting Park. In August of that year the weather was nearly perfect (if I recall). There were a lot of group tours (more than the year before) and the river was a popular travel destination that summer. This shot was a good one. The puffy white clouds and bright blue sky, the dramatic shoreline of the Shubenacadie River, the churning water from the bore, the look of excitement and skepticism on the faces of the rafters, all contributed to this great photo, of a great ride on the river.

Rafting Park Welcomes North American Media Attention!

The owner of Tidal Bore Rafting Park & Cottages, near Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia reports the media attention his business has received from regional and national newspapers, blog sites, TV networks and other media across North America, is good for the region and good for the hospitality industry in the province. Jack Robinson says “There is growing interest in the Tidal Bore rafting phenomena in Nova Scotia and the number of local and international media wanting to learn about it is on the rise.”

According to Mr. Robinson, his staff began noticing more media inquiries in 2007 resulting in feature articles in The Boston Globe, The London Times, Audubon Magazine and several other publications. The trend continued in 2008 with a film crew visit from the Discovery Channel, numerous internet travel blog entries about the business and the production of at least one national video featuring his staff and the filming of a rafting tour on the Shubenacadie River.

This year Tidal Bore Rafting Park has been mentioned dozens of times on Twitter, featured on a number of YouTube videos and added to several prominent travel blog sites, including the Canadian Tourism Commission’s ‘Big Place Blog‘ (resulting from the bloggers’ visit to the park in July). In June, the host and film crew of the Travel Channel’s new travel lifestyle show, The Travel Guy, visited the park. Their production is expected to air across the Travel Channel network late this year or early 2010.

According to Mr. Robinson, in 2008, nearly 8000 people from across North America, Europe and Asia visited Tidal Bore Rafting Park & Cottages. In 2009, the company celebrates 25 years of rafting in Nova Scotia.
