Two memorable encounters I had with Bald Eagles both occurred in Cape Breton. The first on Cheticamp Island where I am sure I almost got a hair cut by two massive eagles soaring along the water’s edge looking for dinner. It was startling and thrilling at the same time. The second was waiting for the car ferry at Englishtown. I stopped next to an eagle sitting on some driftwood next to the road. I approached him to within 30-40 feet and he just sat there looking back at me curiously. We gazed at each other for at least 5 minutes. Amazing creatures.
